Ocean Health Index (OHI) Science
We participated with Conservation International, the Ocean Health Index (OHI) Science Group and the Ecuadorian government on a project to measure the OHI in the Gulf of Guayaquil. Our group successfully participated in leading the update and adaptation of the OHI model to the local reality, by redesigning the data architecture, model updating, transfer of technology and setting the standards and know how to continue the OHI updates in the future. We reinforced our experience in coordinating with two major consulting firms and also had the opportunity to update in-depth aspects regarding the source code of the model, associated data layers and the pressure matrix. The final on-line product can be view at
Package vetools
The package vetools is an open source library for the statistical software R. Developed in-house, the library implements a new variation of the EM algorithm for missing data and also offers a variety
of tools concerning the loading and manipulation of environmental data available from different Venezuelan governmental sources. It also provides a variety of facilities to assess the quality of a given meteorological dataset. The library is a great asset and has been successfully used in various projects.
